Our Journey So Far
It has only been a matter of weeks and myself and Damian have been busy working on our way forward. It seems there is so much to do and learn in this business it never stops. You turn one corner, and there is a whole world ahead of you that needs to be explored.
We have gone from having a creative idea, to registering the company name (how good does that feel !!!). Then we went on and have become an official legally registered company. Welcome to the world of DnD Design, and our journey so far.
How Did We Start?
Once we had decided where we were going, and how we were going to go about it, we needed to make a start. The easiest place to start making designs is on Redbubble.
Damian is an incredible artist and was having fun drawing cartoon dinosaur characters as in the “evolution of man“. We also played around with some of his older drawings used in his books which included the fabulous “Raider” Design. Around the same time Damian designed the “Carpe Diem, Seize The Day” logo that has worked really well on some of our accessories and clothes
Once we had gained confidence in the designing aspect, we approached the subject of a company logo. Living in Gibraltar, we agreed it had to encompass the fantastic place we live in so the outline of our rock was decided upon. We feel this looks fantastic and truly adds the spirit of Gibraltar to our designs.
Our Next Decision
So we had a beginning and a logo. There are only so many designs you can make with a logo and we wanted to branch out in other directions. We found our logo was really popular so we decided to try to improve our market sales. Just as we had practised setting up our shop on Redbubble, we joined Printful that also generates merchandise for companies. We approached Amazon and applied for Amazon Merch. Within two weeks we had an answer that we had been accepted and now we have some of our designs up there on Amazon. Check them out here : Amazon: DnD Design.
Our original idea included designing a smart logo that can be worn on a smart shirt and also a more casual design. Our DnD fits the bill for smart casual so we just needed a follow up.
Carrying on with the topic of Gibraltar, it was decided we would make a logo that had something to do with being outdoors. Living next to the Med and pretty much surrounded by water it was only appropriate to involve The Rock and The Sea. David who is also an official Gibraltar Tour Guide thought that having the height of The Rock would be appropriate. As we are both outdoor fanatics 426 Adventure was born. Damian came up with the artwork and it is now seen on our outdoor adventure gear.
From the onset we have wanted to go in a number of directions. So far we are in the process of following up on these designs.
- The DnD Logo for smart casual wear
- 426 for the outdoor casual look
We now look to our future plans.
What’s Next for Us ?
We want to carry on with our already established brands but start a further journey in two other directions.
Our 426 Brand is already popular as a casual garment. We aim to add further garments purely for the gym and training. This of course will mean extra expenditure and a whole new concept. We have earmarked a local business and hope to go into production talks in the near future.
We are also both big beach lovers and feel the local beach apparel designs are in need of updating. We aim to design a brand for the local market and for worldwide surf apparel. We have already branded Tarifa Windsurf and Kite Surf garments on Amazon and aim to extend this to our own brand along with a story line.
This is extremely exciting as Damian has already designed the characters this will revolve around and will be called “The Adventures of Float Sam”. This is still in the very early stages, but something we are very keen to pursue as it hasn’t been done before.
Here is Float Sam and his friends. Keep an eye on our page for updates and new exciting products.
Well I’m sure that if you have read this to the end you can tell we have been very busy. Apart from the next steps highlighted, we have social media to contend with and advertising media to sort out. This is not going to be something that is done and dusted overnight. We are on a very long journey. We hope you will join us on this trip and hopefully support us along the way. Let us make DnD Design, 426 Adventure and The Adventures of Float Sam a success, and something we can be proud of.
Please feel free to leave any comments below and hope to see you out and about showing off our gear.
